IMF Revises Global Growth Forecast Upward for 2026
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Tuesday raised its global growth forecast for 2026 to 3.2%, up from its January projection of 3.1%, citing resilient consumer spending in the United States and a recovery in international trade. However, the fund warned of significant risks, including geopolitical tensions, high debt levels in many countries, and the uncertain pace of disinflation. The US economy is projected to grow 2.7% this year, while the eurozone is expected to expand just 0.8%, weighed down by weak German industrial activity. China's growth forecast was maintained at 4.6%, reflecting challenges in the property sector and subdued domestic demand. "While the global economy has shown remarkable resilience, significant challenges remain," IMF chief economist said.
