1 Information We Collect

When you use FxRoy, we collect information in the following categories:

Account & Registration Data

• Username, display name, and email address
• Password (stored as a bcrypt hash — never in plain text)
• Optional profile details: bio, country, avatar image, website URL, and trading experience level
• Date and time of registration

Activity Data

• Forum threads, posts, and replies you create or edit
• Likes, bookmarks, and thread subscriptions
• Private messages sent and received between members
• Comments on news articles
• Search queries entered in the platform search

Automatically Collected Data

• IP address (used for security, spam prevention, and geographic display)
• Browser type, operating system, and device information
• Pages visited, time spent, and navigation patterns
• Referring URLs and session identifiers

2 How We Use Your Data

We use your information strictly to provide and improve the FxRoy platform. Specifically:

• To create and manage your member account
• To display your profile, posts, and activity to other community members
• To send transactional emails: account verification, password reset, thread reply notifications, and private message alerts
• To personalise your experience (dark/light mode, notification preferences)
• To detect and prevent spam, abuse, and fraudulent activity
• To enforce our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service
• To generate anonymised, aggregate analytics that help us improve the platform
• To display contextually relevant advertisements (see Section 10)

We do not use your data to build external marketing profiles, sell to data brokers, or make automated decisions that significantly affect you without human review.

3 Forum & Community Content

FxRoy is a public forex trading community. Content you post in the forum — including threads, replies, and news comments — is publicly visible to all visitors, including non-registered users and search engine crawlers.

• Your display name and avatar are shown alongside all public posts
• Post history is visible on your public profile page
• Private messages are visible only to the sender and recipient(s)
• Moderators and administrators may access private messages solely for abuse investigation
• Deleted posts are soft-deleted — removed from public view but retained internally for moderation integrity for 90 days

4 Market Data & Calendar

FxRoy provides live forex market rates, an economic calendar, and financial news. Use of these features:

• Market rates and economic calendar data are sourced from third-party providers and are informational only
• We do not provide personalised financial advice, signals, or portfolio management
• Your interaction with market data pages (views, searches) is logged for analytics
• Economic calendar event data is syndicated — we do not control its accuracy

5 Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the platform effectively:

• Session cookie — Keeps you logged in across page visits (essential)
• CSRF token cookie — Protects form submissions from cross-site attacks (essential)
• Preference cookies — Remembers your dark/light mode and display settings
• Analytics cookies — Google Analytics (if enabled) tracks page views and traffic sources in aggregate
• Advertising cookies — May be set by ad partners to serve relevant ads (see Section 10)

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies will prevent login functionality from working. For advertising cookies, you may opt out via your browser's privacy controls or ad network opt-out pages.

6 Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data only in the following circumstances:

• Service providers — Hosting infrastructure, email delivery (SMTP), and CDN storage (Cloudflare R2) that process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements
• Analytics providers — Aggregated, anonymised usage statistics via Google Analytics
• Legal requirements — When required by applicable law, court order, or to protect FxRoy's legal rights
• Fraud prevention — IP addresses and session data may be shared with security services to detect and block abuse
• Business transfer — In the event of a merger or acquisition, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the same privacy protections

7 Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information:

• All data transmitted between your browser and FxRoy is encrypted using TLS (HTTPS)
• Passwords are hashed with bcrypt — we cannot retrieve your plain-text password
• Database access is restricted to authorised systems only, never exposed publicly
• Admin accounts require strong credentials and are protected by role-based access control
• Regular automated backups are maintained with restricted access

While we take every reasonable precaution, no system is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach that may affect you, we will notify you within 72 hours where feasible and required by applicable law.

8 Data Retention

• Active accounts — Your data is retained for as long as your account exists
• Deleted accounts — Personal data is permanently purged within 30 days of a deletion request; public forum posts are anonymised (attributed to "Deleted User")
• Soft-deleted posts — Retained for 90 days for moderation purposes before permanent deletion
• Private messages — Retained until deleted by both parties or account deletion
• Server logs — IP and access logs retained for a maximum of 90 days for security purposes
• Analytics data — Aggregated analytics retained for up to 26 months in Google Analytics

9 Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
• Correction — Update inaccurate or incomplete profile data at any time via your account settings
• Deletion — Request permanent deletion of your account and associated personal data
• Portability — Request your data in a machine-readable format (JSON)
• Objection — Object to processing of your data for direct marketing purposes
• Restriction — Request we limit processing of your data pending a dispute
• Withdraw consent — Where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time

10 Advertising

FxRoy displays advertisements to support the free operation of the platform. Our advertising practices:

• We may display banner, sidebar, and in-thread advertisements managed directly by the FxRoy team
• Third-party ad networks may use cookies to serve interest-based advertisements
• We do not share your account data or private messages with advertisers
• Ad partners may collect anonymised data on ad impressions and clicks
• Broker and trading platform advertisements are displayed for informational purposes only and do not constitute endorsement

11 Minors

FxRoy is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. Forex and financial markets involve significant risk and are not suitable for minors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18.

If you believe a minor has registered on the platform, please contact us at contact@fxroy.com and we will promptly delete the account.

12 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or platform features. When we make material changes we will:

• Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
• Post a notice on the FxRoy forum homepage for significant changes
• Send an email notification to registered members for material changes that affect their rights

Continued use of FxRoy after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
